In October 2013, Janrain commissioned Blue Research to assess consumer satisfaction with digital marketing, and whether social login is recognized as part of the targeting and personalization process.

The results show more than 50% of consumers now use social login, and those who do are more active and likely to be brand advocates. Unfortunately they also show consumers are still being mis-targeted for marketing campaigns, and 94% will respond by unsubscribing from emails or abandoning websites.

Other findings:

  • 71% have received an offer that "clearly shows they do not know who I am"
  • 10% say they will never visit that website again as a result
  • 91% are satisfied with the social login experience...
  • ...but only 12% say they choose social login because it "ensures websites are more personalized."
